Situated on a busy hight street, the remodel and extension of an existing vacant retail unit into a new restaurant is proposed. The brief was to reclaim and restore building materials to create a eco-friendly eatery and wine bar.
Working closely with the client, the internal fixtures and fittings include a reclaimed gym floor from a local school being demolished, an up-cycled blue corrugated steel sheet for the bar front which was sourced from a nearby farm, and feature lighting made from recycled conical glass beakers, reflecting the clients previous occupation as a biomedical scientist.
Exposed brickwork is restored to link the architecture into the interior and in turn giving warm tones against the blue palette and neutral greys. Rattan lighting is added creating various layers of textures when lit, whilst a mirrored feature wall displays a mixture of historic images of the surrounding area.
